In today’s fast changing world of technology we are facing different challenges.
And on one hand technology has connected us and on the other extreme there is also various ill effects of the technology.
These ill effects are more in college campuses specially in professional colleges
Increase connectivity brings competitiveness and aspiration at very high level.
So there is a huge gap between our high aspirations and our present skill set. So naturally students are faced with new challenges in their life.
Hobby clubs are one of the solutions to handle this. These are the groups of students with like minded hobbies so that they can meet, share and enjoy their hobbies in monthly or weekends.
In our college Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical College we have started Reader’s club and singing club to promote the hobbies among the students.
These hobby clubs give a platform to interact with other students ,increase their communication skill ,boost the empathy in them, improve their self image and help in managing the technological challenges they are facing in this era.
As a psychiatrist, i have witnessed that there are some students who are not able to cope up due to reasons like academic pressure, personal issues, addiction and minor or major mental health disorders. In any case, the things can be managed effectively through pharmacological and non pharmacological treatments. But, many students don’t know how to deal with their psychological problems and even if they know that there is a problem which should be treated, then also, they are not willing to come to psychiatry OPD. Stigma and apprehension to psychiatric drug treatment are major reasons for that. Very few of them are seeking help for their problems. So, there is an unmet need to cater for students who have psychological issues but not showing up.
Stigma should be minimized and there should be clarity that they are going to get habitual to every psychiatric drug. A platform should be given to such students.
Wellbeing is the result of alignment between body , mind and soul. Our incomplete functionality results in suffering, unsuccess and troubles.
Yoga is a way , which gives fundamental knowledge of who you are, how your mind functions are going on , how it aligns with body.
We are regularly organizing activities like Yoga , Bhgawat Gita discourses and many more.
Our goal is to energize students in such a way that they can search themselves. Once they will clear their mind then the same individual will function with full of his potential.
Greetings Everyone
I am John S Mathew, Student 3rd prof., Batch 2021-22.
I am glad to be an active member of "Inkwell Explorers" ,our literary club at ABVGMC, Vidisha.
We the members of Inkwell Explorers gather about once or twice a month and express our love for literature in the form of book reviews, poem recitation, art work exhibition, art discussions etc.
It is a wonderful platform for a literature enthusiast like me to get to know about various books and novels my professors, seniors, colleagues and juniors are invested into. We also get to experience the feelings absorbed into the beautiful lines and lyrics of the wonderful poems that are recited in our meet.
I am grateful to be a member of this club as it helps me explore the vast territory of wonderful literature that blows one's mind and allow me to ponder upon various aspects of literature and life in general.
To be a part of this privileged community of ABVGMC, I'm glad that we have made a book club with the name, THE INKWELL EXPLORERS. It is such a blessing for us, booklovers and literature enthusiasts, that every fortnightly we organize a meet where we share the books we read, the stories and poems we made and what not! In this medical journey, Pursuing our hobbies is the toughest thing to do, but this book club has proven to be a boon in our lives. We have restarted reading books and giving ourselves another chance.
